Berryhill Retirement Village

Professional architectural services

Berryhill Retirement Village in Stoke-on-Trent is one of the first purpose-built, self-contained retirement villages to be constructed in the UK, opening its doors to residents in April 1998.

Designed by Hulme Upright for Touchstone ExtraCare (a partnership between Touchstone Housing Association and The ExtraCare Charitable Trust), this retirement village provides accommodation for singles and couples together with a wide range of leisure facilities and activities within a purpose-built community for 170 people over the age of 55.

In 1999 the Berryhill Retirement Village project was highly commended at the National Partnership Awards and won first prize in the ROOM Partnership Awards 1999 organised by the National Council for Housing and Planning.

The Village has also just received a National Housing for Older People Gold Award 2013 as the best UK Retirement Housing scheme over 100 units in size voted for by the residents.
