Hulme Upright are winners in the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire's Citizen of the Year competition 2008 in the Architectural Design Award, sponsored by Knights Solicitors.
The winning scheme was the Burslem Live/Work Units, a Victorian town centre building transformed into a mix of craft workshops and apartments for artists and designers.
The names were revealed at a celebration dinner and awards night at the Kings Hall, Stoke, on Saturday, November 28, where hundreds of nominations had been received for the annual awards, which recognise the achievements, determination and enthusiasm of individuals and groups in the region.
Stoke-on-Trent Elected Mayor Mark Meredith said: "Once again the people of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire have shown what a dynamic, innovative, creative, hard-working and caring city we are. "I am tremendously proud of the achievements of all the winners, finalists and everyone who was nominated. The commitment and hard work showcased at these awards is making North Staffordshire a better place to live for everyone."
