Upside-down Houses Win Planning Approval

A new development of "upside down" houses to be built in Stoke-on-Trent won planning approval.

The unusual development, at a former potbank on Lonsdale Street in Stoke, was unanimously voted approval by Stoke-on-Trent City Council's development control committee.

The homes will all feature balconies on the upper floor which will be linked to a communal decking area, where residents can spend time with friends from houses in what the developer, former elected mayor Mike Wolfe, hopes will be a sun trap.

Architect and Director Oliver Cotton said, "It's a piece of contemporary housing this city needs, and is something that has been run out as a model across the City."

The next stage of the project will be to put in a plan to find out how much it will cost to build the new homes.
