Kirk House Nursing Home
The requirement for additional accommodation was requested by Kirk House Nursing Home to satisfy changes in legislation and to allow the home to expand.
The brief was to provide an additional 14no. bedrooms with integral en-suite facilities over two storeys, including ancillary accommodation. The siting for extension had to be towards therear of the existing home within the confines of a compact site layout.
One of the main challenges was that the home lay within a conservation area and was importnat to create an addition that was contemporary in architectural style whilst being complimentary and responsive to the surrounding environment and streetscene.
