'INFOBOX' Architectural Design Competition
The competition was run by Urban Splash developers in collaboration with The Architects Journal magazine and required ideas for the design of a sales office for the 'TRIBECA' development in Liverpool.
The ‘INFOBOX’ has been designed as an inner vibrant form, housing exhibition/meeting space, with an outer, perforated mesh, envelope. The envelope mutes the green inner form during the day but becomes almost invisible when lit at night, revealing, more obviously, a green ‘beacon’.
The plan is simple, thus allowing easy navigation. The user enters into a triple height void and circulates upwards through exhibition space to a second floor viewing terrace. Internal walls are white, minus a green lift core, allowing for flexible media projection.
It is felt that the ‘INFOBOX’ would be suited for use as a community library once ‘TRIBECA’ is completed, and would have some emphasis on Chinese text to support the local Chinese community. The inclusion of this in the new and existing community, in favour of demolition, would be both socially and environmentally responsible.
