St. Joseph’s Primary School
A new six form entry infant school with nursery, reception and classrooms, built for the Christian Brothers to replace an earlier preparatory school which had been incorporated into the main secondary school.
The main circulation route within the school is on a North / South axis to enable all classrooms to be positioned to reduce solar gain and glare. Rooflights are incorporated into the rear of the classrooms to provide natural ventilation and increased daylight to the rear.
Most of the classrooms face onto the secure play area at the rear and a timber balcony was created to these rooms to provide external teaching areas.
