The development provides 633 student study bedrooms, all of which have ensuite shower and toilet facilities. Of these, 6 are units suitable for wheelchair bound students. Also included are 2 wardens flats and 2 flats for visiting lecturers.Whilst the primary use is student housing, the development will also provide for vacational lets and conference usage.
The accommodation is provided in 7 zones with two 9 storey blocks on either side of a central block of 10 storeys, which fronts onto St. George's Circus. The blocks step down along Blackfriars Road and Waterloo Road to 6 and 7 storeys respectively, in response to the height of the existing adjacent buildings.
One of the principal features is the barrel vault roof, covered in stainless steel, which creates a dramatic climax to elevational composition.
