David Vokes B.A.(Hons) Dip Arch R.I.B.A.
Prior to joining Hulme Upright in August 1998, David worked for Biscoe & Stanton Architects in central London where he completed projects in the retail, industrial and commercial sectors. David was also the project architect for the restoration of a Christopher Wren church, St James Garlickhythe, in the City of London following the collapse of a tower crane on an adjacent development site. He also worked in a team on the refurbishment of a series of listed office buildings and scheduled ancient monuments in the City of London and the West End.
David became a board director in 2001 and became Deputy Managing Director in 2008. He has expanded his design experience to include projects in the commercial, education, housing, elderly persons’ accommodation, healthcare, leisure, HM Prison Services and Ministry of Defence sectors.
He is currently the Director in charge of a team responsible for designing and delivering retirement villages in Warrington, St Helens, Sheffield, Nottingham, Stoke on Trent and Gloucester. He also has a number of other elderley persons developments at both concept and planning stage. He has also been the lead designer on a number of office, industrial and retail developments since joining the Practice and has been the Director in charge of developments in Derby, Crewe, Birmingham, Norwich and Stoke on Trent. He is also looking at a number of further commercial and retail opportunities in the UK.
