Works are now complete on this £35 million retirement village for The ExtraCare Charitable Trust.
Hulme Upright were commissioned for the provision of architectural design services for the construction of an older persons retirement village with 255no. 1/2 bed apartments and 72no. 1/2 bed bungalows with communal village facilities and associated parking.
The site is on the outskirts of Nottingham and is adjacent to the land set aside by the city council for the tram system which will ultimately link the scheme to the city centre.
The development includes many internal design features with a four storey central atrium to the Village Centre, a three storey Winter Garden link block, a central landscaped courtyard accessed from the Fitness Suite and many high level covered access walkways all with varying views over the adjacent landscaped site and to the City beyond.
The design follows the contours of the existing topography and is surrounded on three sides with open landscape and the sounds of the high flying Larks.
