As recently acknowledged on BBC News 24 Live Watch, The Wedgwood Museum was handed over early in 2008 following an eighteen month base build construction phase.
The £10 million ‘Wedgwood House of Treasures’ scheduled for opening to the public during Autumn 2008 will house over 6,000 Wedgwood artefacts, 75,000 manuscripts and 680 pattern books.
The new museum is situated very close to the visitors centre on the Wedgwood Factory complex in Barlaston Stoke-on-Trent.
The Wedgwood Museum has also scooped the £100,000 Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries.
The announcement that the Barlaston museum had beaten three others to the top prize was made during a ceremony in London’s Royal Institute of British Architects.
