The scheme adopts a circular plan form which enables maximum advantage to be taken of the general views and adjacent landscape and also provides a central space suitable for most general school social activities.

The principal structural system is an exposed steel frame to all the glazed areas with masonry, clad externally in sandstone and render, to the kitchen, stores and toilets.

The perimeter flat roof, being concrete, is finished with mineralised felt and the eaves in lead. The central conical roof is structured using exposed laminated rafters and finished in standard clay tiles. The base of the roof is glazed enabling good natural daylight to penetrate the centre of the building with the lead clad pinnacle providing natural ventilation.
